What You Need to Know

Application Review and Recommended Curriculum

Careful consideration is given to all applicants for admission to Marymount California University, with the greatest emphasis placed upon the applicant’s academic performance (GPA) and the quality of academic preparation (curriculum). Most successful applicants possess a cumulative academic GPA of a 2.50 or higher.

Marymount California University strongly recommends the following college preparatory curriculum pattern:

  • English — Four years
  • Mathematics — Three years (Algebra 1, Geometry and Intermediate Algebra 2 at minimum)
  • History/Social Science — Two years
  • Natural Science — Two years
  • Foreign Language — Two years
  • Academic Elective Courses — one to two years

The following credentials also may influence the Admission Committee’s decision (highly recommended):

  • Standardized testing (SAT, ACT and/or TOEFL) — Required for merit scholarship consideration
  • Letter(s) of recommendation (at least one letter from an academic source)
  • Personal statement or essay
